A Maryland native, Barbara has been involved in the arts "forever". Saturday morning art instruction at the age of 10 led to winning local competitions and assisting, then taking over young children's art classes while still in high school.
Never satisfied to "just paint", over the course of years she attended workshops throughout the U.S. learning stained glass, fused glass, wood carving, jewelry, black and white photography, and print making. To this day she still attends master painting classes, stating "There's always something new to learn".
"My paintings evolve from color, texture, patterns, or something I've seen. They are always a surprise because my initial intention very rarely goes beyond the first few sessions. The subconscious takes over. Colors change, textures are added, and a finished painting or collage usually has numerous layers. When the final protective varnish is applied, I am smiling."
At the present time, Barbara is concentrating on decorative abstract acrylic paintings, multi-media 12"x12" series, and the art of the found object.
She maintains working studios in Easton, Maryland and Winter Haven, Florida.
