Charlene Bell Charlene Bell

Charlene works with furniture and home accessories, and also does acrylic paintings, charcoal drawings and murals.  She has been drawing and painting her whole life.  She started working with furniture in 2002.

Charlene is self taught, and is inspired by feelings, color light, shape, and music.  Her goals are to create always.  To have her work known.  To leave behind something of value.  To touch others.  She says she loves what she does because, “I can have the freedom to use my talents to hone my skills and still achieve my goals.”

She can match décor, and has used swatches of wall paper, etc. to match.

Seeing the potential in this table, I rescued it from the
back room of a secondhand shop.

After removing the shelf and prepping, it became a new
work of art.  Blue and white with gold detailing as a base.
A tiny flower adorns the drawer knob.

Faux lattice work lays a base for an array of painted flowers
on the top of the table.

A before view of a commissioned piece.

Same table with faux finished woodgraining, blue and gold
repeated patterns, a wood medallion and new hardware.

The top view shows a painting of lions on a crest done in various
shades of gold and copper.

A child size rocker that had been in the owner's
living room for years, was due for a makeover
to blend into the room's decor.

Another commission from the same owner.  She was
happy these stacking wood cubes now not only fit her
room's theme, but have become functional art with
a world of display possibilities.

One view from a themed child's room shows faux
woodgraining on the closet doors, ocre paint on the framework
with rope detailing continuing down around the baseboards.
A pirate painted over the closet keeps watch.  On the left is a
mixed media piece with crossed pirate swords, handmade
antiqued treasure map, coins and topped off with a pirate
hat rested atop a blue wall shelf trimmed in rope.

Another view of the pirate room, this painted lighthouse
incorporates the lightswitch in one of it's windows, while
rocks and flag continue around the corner.
