I started painting with oils in high school in the 70's, but switched to acrylics after a friend of mine, who is the younger brother of world renowned Southwestern artist, Ted Blaylock, taught me ala his brothers' style. I never forgot those techniques, and still use them often to this day.
My subjects are mostly landscapes, still life and some abstract. Being a licensed U.S.C.G. boat captain, seascapes are familiar and of particular interest to me. I try to paint from references that inspire a vision from my heart that I feel my hand can relay (or sometimes not) to the canvas.
I grew up in the Midwest, and have also lived in California and Spain. I first moved to Florida in 1984, and have lived on both coasts.
