I am a painting, pottery and papier-mâché artist
I was always constructing things; dog clothes, doll furniture, clothes for myself when I was young. When we lived in Orlando, my parents sent me to Ralph Bagley. At Florida Southern, I studied pottery with Mr. Doak and papier-mâché with Dr. Stoddard. I started in my current mediums in the 70’s when I taught high school art.
I am inspired by the beauty of the land and its inhabitants. Art keeps me sane and healthy… well healthy anyway.
Pottery is so old and so universal! I’m always learning new things. Papier-mâché is also a wonderful medium because it costs so little in material, yet is as archival, as elegant and as intricate as any other medium.

Clay is magic. It is stimulating, restful and even therapeutic. It's challenging, too. It entices the potter to turn it into something useful - perhaps beautiful. Beyond that, the challenge inherent in porcelain clay is for the pottery artist to make his pot translucent. Good luck with that one.
